Acer Aspire One D255E Netbook

I saved this netbook from going into the trash in 2013 and finally fixed it in 2014. The screen had been shattered and the 1GB of RAM just wasn’t good enough. I use this currently as my kitchen recipe book using Gnome-Recipes.

Specifications:

  • Intel Atom CPU N455 @ 1.66GHz
  • 2 GB DDR3 Memory
  • 250 GB HDD
  • Intel GPU with 1024×600 screen resolution
  • Runs openSUSE Tumbleweed and KDE Plasma

There is nothing special needed to make Linux run on this machine. It runs Linux well right out of the box. If this machine had more RAM (which is not possible), or perhaps an SSD instead of an HDD for storage, it would probably be an much better experience.
