I have two of these machines both have similar specs:
- Intel Core2 Duo T9300 @ 2.50GHz
- 4 GB RAM
- Core2 Duo CPU
- Nvidia Quadro NVS 140M GPU
- 500GB HDD
- Runs openSUSE Leap 42.3 with KDE Plasma 5
One machine sits in my cubicle next to my primary machine as a “Side-kick” for administrative and other ancillary tasks. While my primary machine there runs Windows 7 doing CAD work, it will struggle with doing it’s primary job and do functions like slicing STL files for 3D printing as well as file management of the shared pool of information between the two machines.
The second machine acts almost exclusively for education purposes. It is used for doing memory work, and other educational functions. This one could use a new battery but is otherwise operating very well.
The only issue with these machines are the need for the proprietary Nvidia driver. Not hard to set up. You can see here on setting up the Nvidia drivers:
This machine uses the X11-video-nvidiaG03 driver.
