Sometimes, computers and networking is not as fun as it once was. I have actually found it quite annoying at times when suddenly, things break. Nothing is quite as consistent as they once were. I’d like to say it was around 2009 that we accelerated into craziness… regardless, new solutions for new problems.
I have stumbled upon this issue with Microsoft Edge browser, on both Linux and Windows, where I would not be given the typical notification to make an exception to an unproven security certificate. Instead I was given this screen with no way around this warning.

What I was expecting was this, with a link at the bottom:

I was unsure what to do to get around this. I went to other browsers and Firefox was my alternative to be able to access this site. I, however, wasn’t satisfied with this. I want my work sites in their own nice little Microsoft synchronized bubble so I was on the search for an answer and I got it.
To solve this it is as easy as simply typing somewhere in the body of the window: thisisunsafe
That’s all it takes and now I can go back to doing what needs to be done. It is a quick and easy way to proceed with whatever is violating some rule someplace within the recesses of the Microsoft Edge browser.
Final Thoughts
Life was so much simpler before HTTPS. I sometimes miss the simplicity of the days of when the Internet was a lot more “fun” and essentially unexplored. For all those people out there make the whole cyber security thing a nightmare. Boo on you. You are sucking the fun out of technology.
