This is my machine I purchased in 2007 that just keeps chugging away. I have upgraded the RAM to it’s max allowable 8GB, upgraded the CPU to the max allowable 2.6 Ghz Core2 Duo T9500, installed a Atheros wireless-N NIC and upgraded the Hard drive to a 1TB SSHD drive. This runs openSUSE Leap currently but have used Tumbleweed on it. I have had some issues with the with the open source Nvidia drivers, Nouaveu. Leap keeps this thing chugging along, even running KDE Plasma fairly nicely. Running openSUSE on this aged hardware ensures it’s continued useful life.
