  1. Thank you for the civil and tech-focused discussion of Omarchy. I have it installed on several machines and like it. But I wanted to mention for those who like what Omarchy’s done, but don’t trust the Arch base, I did a port of Omarchy to Fedora at https://github.com/whelanh/omarchy-fedora. I have that port installed on two laptops and can’t tell the difference between my Fedora base and the official Omarchy. There is an older Omarchy to Fedora port called Omadora that curates what they choose from Omarchy. I chose to get as close to a 1:1 replacement with a nightly process to track upstream Omarchy. I know there is also a good port of Omarchy to Nix as well. Just something for people to consider.

    1. Thank you and I agree about the distrust of the Arch base. I don’t use Arch due to my inability to keep an Arch installation running. Maybe the tooling with Omarchy will improve that. I would much prefer a Fedora base as I feel that there is a lot more stability in recent years there. Ideally, from my perspective, a Tumbleweed base would be a nice mix between the two lands. I find this whole concept very fascinating and it is tragically unfortunate the vast number of people that can’t focus on the tech aspects of what is being offered and look at it purely in that context. I am not saying that Omarchy is the direction I will go, I am very content with Tumbleweed, ecstatic here, actually, but it provides interesting solutions to new problems and even revisiting old, unaddressed issues in desktop Linux. This is a very interesting time, for sure.

Thank you for the positive feedback and the link to your project!
